Species Diversity
Treefrogs offer a striking example of the high local-scale biodiversity in the Amazon. At some sites in the Amazon rainforest, there are more treefrog species in a small area than there are across all of North America or Europe.
Treefrogs are a particularly important group to study for understanding amphibian diversity, because they can make up nearly half of all amphibian species in some rainforest sites.

Species Interaction
**Mutualism: Amazonian parrots & Fruits. **
Amazonian parrots primarily feed on fruits and leafy matter. The fruit is benefitted by having its seeds dispersed by the parrot, while the parrot benefits from the nutrients of the fruit.
**Predation: Anaconda Snakes & Monkeys. **This snake is well known both for it's size and because it is very dangerous and is one of the most dangerous animal that lives in the Amazon Rainforest. The Anaconda commonly preys on monkeys.
**Parasitism: Cicadas & Trees. **Cicada adults lay their eggs in the tree, then when they hatch, the cicada nymph drops to the ground & burrows to the roots of the tree and sucks the sap out of the trees.**Commensalism: Frogs & Vermiliad.
**Many frogs, like the poison dart frog and the Gaudy Leaf Frog, in rain forests throughout the world show commensalism with vermiliad (a rain-forest plant that grows close to the ground on or near trees) and other plants in the rain forests. The frogs benefit by using the leaves of the vermiliad as shelter from sun and rain. The vermiliad is unaffected by the frogs.
